Slumdog Millionaire sweeps the Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globe Awards were held on the 11th January 2009 and Slumdog Millionaire walked away with most of the honors, by winning all the awards it was nominated for: Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Director and Best Film.
Simon Beaufoy took the first award for Best screenplay for his excellent adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s novel ‘Q&A’.
The second award was given to A R Rahman, who walked away with the award for Best Original Score. Clearly a great honor for him, and will certainly make his fans in India and across the world very proud. A R Rahman has been making music for Indian films for almost 20 years. He has worked on International productions in the past; including the hit west end musical “Bombay Dreams.” In 2003 he also did the Score for the Chinese film ‘Warriors of Heaven and Earth’. Already regarded in Bollywood as their best Music director - after winning this award he will now no doubt be considered a national treasure.
Danny Boyle took the third award for Best director. His portrayal of the slums in Mumbai can only be comparable to the works of Satyajit Rai. Danny Boyle shot the entire film in Mumbai and largely used an Indian crew to cut costs. He also cast genuine street children (it is said that one of the kids he cast in the film was found sleeping on the roof of a car because his home was demolished).
Towards the end of the ceremony, pulling no surprises, the film walked away with the greatest honor of all by winning the award for Best Film. Anil Kapoor who also stars in the film was seen jumping from his seat with joy when the award was announced. Eyes are now all set on the Oscars where now the film is the favourite to win Best Picture.

a great film. Danny Boyle is a top director. Not taking away from the film I can’t help thinking if it would have received the same plaudits with an Indian Director…

Is there any truth in the story that some of the real street kids in the story did not get any monies for taking part in the film?
