Bollywood’s Big B, Amitabh Bachchan, has been admitted to a Mumbai hospital this Saturday on his 66^th birthday. Bachchan was suffering from acute abdominal pain and was called an ambulance by his daughter Shweta. He was then being taken into hospital on a stretcher. The actor is said to be in a stable condition after responding well to treatment received at the hospital.

Meanwhile his son Abhishek informed reporters on Saturday that his father’s admission into hospital was a result of intestinal problems for which he previously underwent surgery in 2005. He urged fans to pray for his speedy recovery from whom the support already has been very impressive. While Amitabh was recovering inside, his fans remained supportive and prayed for the actor outside the hospital as well as various temples in and around the city.

He was working on his latest film ‘Teen Patti’ up until Friday. The incident prompts the question as to whether the most prolific actor in Bollywood is reaching an age where he cannot necessarily commit to the busy lifestyle that he has been living for over 3 decades.

In his 30 year career in the industry, he has starred in over 150 films, with his greatest film arguably being the legendary Sholay. It has become the highest grossing film of all time in India, with many experts claiming that it inaugurated the modern epoch of commercial Indian cinema.

Earlier this year Amitabh was in London with his Unforgettable Tour, where he showcased a Bollywood spectacle with the help of the younger Bachchan couple - Aishwarya and Abhishek, as well as a number of other Bollywood A-listers.

Talking of son Abhishek Bachchan, he has teamed up with Wyclef Jean on the ex- Fugees’ remix of ‘Bollywood meets Hollywood’. Wyclef was persistent on getting the services of Abhishek in order to make this collaboration as genuine as possible.
