The Unforgettable Tour Reaches London
Posted on 17 August 2008 by Seema Sidha

The summer is here and so is the hottest Bollywood concert of the decade, yes! It is the Bachchan’s Unforgettable World Tour. With the unprecedented success in Toronto and America, the tour is now set to come to London.
The show starring Bollywood’s royalty Mr.Amitabh Bachchan, the younger Bachchan couple - Aishwarya and Abhishek, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh, music duo Vishal and Shekher, Akshay Kumar and dancing queen Madhuri Dixit, is promised to be a unique experience foe the many fans who have been eagerly awaiting their arrival. Better yet, exclusively for us Brits, we have actress Shilpa Shetty joining the star line up for the London leg.
Beyond all the hype, the tour does have an underlying noble cause: to supply light to billions of people using solar lanterns through the ‘Light a Billion Lives’ campaign - an initiative of The Energy Resource Institute of India headed by Nobel Laureate, Dr R K Pachauri. The campaign proposes to provide solar lanterns to light up the homes, thereby harvesting the power of clean energy. The villages will be chosen across nine countries across India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Maldives and the African Continent focusing on Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana and Malawi.
In terms of the show itself, it would be interesting to see whether the Bachchan brigade can compete with Elton John and Madonna, the only artists to have sold out the o2 Arena in London (where the gig is being held).
Talking of tours, one has to mention the king of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan. His Temptation Reloaded 2008 tour started back in June and will continue through the summer eventually reaching London in September. The tour features Shaharukh Khan along with Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal and Javed Ali.
Shahrukh has already pulled off a great show in Rotterdam, Holland, but the question is, can he really pull more audiences than the Bachchan’s? (rumour has it that this tour was a response to the Bachchan’s Unforgettable Tour) I guess one would have to wait and see.
The London date for The Unforgettable Tour is the 24th August at the O2 Arena.

Looking forward to this concert, how’s Shilpa Shetty going to squeeze it in given that she’s also presenting Bigg Boss in India right now on Colors?
Thanks!

Big B is big B. All stars emulate him in every aspect.

Did anyone go? What did they think of it??
I felt that it didn’t live up to expectation. There was a lot of fanfare and hoo haa, but we saw very little of the people outside of the lip syncing. There was some two way dialogue from some of the stars, but I do feel that it wasn’t enough. Also, I had relatively good seats, lord knows how the people sitting in the far back found kit. I can’t see how one would enjoy squinting at ant like figures bouncing around on stage.
