SRK Taking Over Indian Television
Posted on 11 June 2008 by Amna Ahmed

The Baadshah of Bollywood, having clearly conquered the silver screen, is now increasing his foot hold on the smaller screens in an attempt to reign supreme there to.
The superstar started off his acting career on a television serial called Fauji back in 1988, and as we are all aware, he has come a tremendous way since. Shahrukh Khan seems to be returning to his roots and is now appearing more on television than on the big screen.
His appearances are mostly limited to the copious number of commercials that he stars in. As a result, almost every 5th advert on Indian television stars King Khan - his charming persona and dimpled smile wooing the viewers. Whether it’s his endorsements for fairness creams, satellite television or cookies, the man is enticing the Asian population to dance to his tunes and purchase these products over rival ones.
Most age groups, genders, and classes see him as an icon for different reasons… which seems to be why multinational corporations are reeling him in as their brand ambassador. His youthful persona helps him sell drinks like Pepsi, while his style and versatility are embodied with his endorsement of products like Belmonte Clothing. A recognized face in the international community, companies like Compaq and Tag Heuer are also vying for Khan’s charisma and charm, so the South Asian diaspora world-over, will race to buy their items.
Shahrukh’s TV appearances are not just limited to his 60-second commercials however. In 2007, Khan replaced the Big B - Amitabh Bachchan - on India’s most popular game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati Dwitya (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 2). By bringing his own individual touch to the show, he kept the viewers returning every week.
Kya Aap Paanchve Pass Sei Tez Hain, the Indian equivalent to the hit American game show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader started its crusade on prime time television earlier last month. The headliner for the show? none other than King Khan; sporting his token waistcoat and jeans, Khan has taken over the evening spot during the weekend as thousands flock to see normal people like themselves rub shoulders with the King himself.
As a result of all these appearances, Shahrukh Khan has received criticism from many media analysts for over-exposing himself on the small screen. The question to ask is whether this relentless exposure will dent SRK’s image and brand strength? Or whether it will increase his appeal to a wider audience?

Amitab is way better than Sharukh! SRK is getting old and knows his time as a bollywood hero are numbered so he’s over-exposing himself to make as much money as he can while he still can. Still, I doubt his popularity will ever drop, he is the chosen one!

SRK is always gonna be compared 2 the Big B
maybe tv land is where SRK belongs nw with all the series with head spinning camera points, the actors with white streaks in their hair 2 represent oldness , the many adverts that take up the show?
or maybe he can carry on with insurance claim adverts, always popular with fading stars……lol
SRK go away
u never was anything

Well, lets put the records straight for all you guys out the, what would have SRK been if he was in Pakistan? A loafer and no one would have known him. India gives everyone a chance to prove themselves, irrespective of race, creed or religion. Would Pakistan give the same chance to an Indian in Pakistan, i doubt it vey much. SRK made it big thanks to INDIA, not because of what he is, so don’t ever forget this statement, and all you fools out there blazing Amitabh Bachan, you should be surprised he was not a jealous guy and he also gave SRK a chance in the film industry. Why do pakistanis always bring in religion?

paanchvi pass held its ground over IPL and has outperformed the crashing Dus Ka Dum, the show should have been launched outside of IPL
